Week 1

The people at C&M really drew me to the company. During my interviews, everyone seemed open, energetic, and genuinely interested in helping their clients and fellow employees. I was happy to discover that there was always someone willing to answer my questions and take the time to ensure that I really understood the work I was doing.

My internship confirmed my initial thoughts about C&M. I learned a lot in that short time, including some of the ins and outs of international business transactions and tax research. C&M seems like the perfect place to grow as a professional alongside other talented people in the industry.

After my internship last summer, I am excited to be back with C&M full-time and I am looking forward to working with and learning from the tax team again!

One Month

My first month at C&M has gone by incredibly quickly and has been fantastic every step of the way. I’ve already worked on countless tax returns and other projects for a wide variety of clients and these experiences have helped me to grow as a professional. It’s been wonderful being able to apply everything I learned in school to helping clients. I’ve learned even more than I ever thought possible in such a short period of time.

My co-workers are the best part of working at C&M. They are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely good individuals. Throughout my time at C&M my co-workers have helped me become a more efficient accountant and I’ve gotten to know them better as individuals. Company events, like the company Halloween party, help bring co-workers together and foster a fun work environment.

Overall, my first month at C&M has been amazing and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow and learn there.

Month Six

The past six months at C&M have been exciting. I’ve had the opportunity to apply everything I learned in school to real world issues. Each day is new opportunity to help my co-workers and clients solve problems and overcome obstacles. Every day offers a new chance to gain experience and find success in even the smallest accomplishments.

The skill I’ve found the most improvement in is collaboration. At this point, I think I’ve worked with every member of the tax department from senior to shareholder on a project of some kind. Learning how to balance different people’s work style and schedule has taught me not only how to better prioritize and manage time, but also given me the chance to get to know my co-workers better.

My advice for anyone starting out in their career would be to seek feedback and take it to heart. Those who have worked in the field before you have great tips on everything from software hacks to client preferences and common complications to look out for. Being open to self-improvement will go a long way, and everyone at C&M wants you to succeed.
