Sabrina Elie

Week 1

My name is Sabrina Elie and I am a sophomore at Michigan State University. When I’m not in school, you can find me out on the golf course, wake surfing, or playing board games with my family and friends.

I came across C&M unexpectedly on Handshake when looking for summer leadership programs hosted by accounting firms. Even though Reach Beyond was virtual, I was impressed that I could still feel the friendly and welcoming culture of the firm. After my interviews, I was sold even more because everyone I had met was so helpful, knowledgeable, and genuine.

C&M has been such an unexpected surprise since I first started. I was unsure if I would still be able to develop relationships with my coworkers since we are all remote, but C&M has done an excellent job connecting me with so many people through virtual lunches and Ring meetings. I have also been surprised – but extremely appreciative – by the helpfulness of everyone I have met. Even though questions cannot be answered as easily as they could be if we were in the office, everyone has ensured they would take their time to answer any questions I have no matter how small. It is very relieving to know that my coworkers care that I am understanding and learning throughout this internship.

One thing I am looking forward to is picking up more client work to contribute to my team and the overall firm. I am also hoping to go out in the field and see clients in person to get a feel for what those meetings are like. Most of all, I am just excited to learn about and gain real world experience with C&M.
