Week 1
What initially attracted me to Clayton & McKervey was the firm’s international focus and how friendly and easy to talk to everyone was during the recruitment process! The people I met with genuinely seemed to enjoy working at C&M, and that was something I wanted to be a part of.
It feels great to be back as a full-time staff after completing my internship last summer. So, because I am returning, my first week at C&M has been about what I expected. There is so much information, but everyone is so willing to help you in any way they can. That’s one thing I love about C&M, the people here genuinely want to help you grow and succeed.
I’m most looking forward to getting started on some client work and continuing to learn from the C&M team!
Month 1
It’s hard to believe I’ve already been at C&M for an entire month because the time has flown by! So far, my experience has been very positive. From the people to the work itself, I have enjoyed my time here. It’s amazing to me the amount I’ve learned in such a short period of time.
My favorite part about working at C&M is the people. Everyone is so patient and more than willing to answer any of my questions and to truly help me learn and grow as a professional.
The most memorable part of working here thus far has been the variety of projects I’ve been able to work on. From tax returns, to quarterly work, to research projects, I’ve been exposed to so much already. I’m excited to continue to learn!
Overall, my first month at C&M has been great! I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me here as I get ready for my first upcoming busy season.
Month 6
If I could describe the past six months in one word, it would be growth. I’ve been exposed to many things that were unfamiliar and challenging to me, but I’ve grown and learned so much as a professional in the process. It feels good to think back on how certain tasks that once seemed difficult when I first started are now like second nature to me.
A valuable skill that I have improved on is multitasking. Throughout my time at C&M, especially through busy season, I’ve balanced multiple projects at once. Knowing how to prioritize work and being flexible with picking projects up and down has been essential.
My advice for someone just starting out in their career would be to not be afraid to ask questions and to learn as much as possible. The people here are so willing to answer questions and help you learn, so it’s a real opportunity that any new hire should take advantage of.
